Position Summary:

The Energy Rebate Specialist plays a critical role in the execution of company-wide rebate projects. They support rebate and incentive applications for various rebate programs administered by the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) and utility companies, including but not limited to ConEdison and National Grid. The Energy Rebate Specialist also supports by conducting on-site inspections of multifamily and commercial buildings and completes data entry, modeling, calculations, and reports for energy rebate projects by using and expanding their understanding of building HVAC, domestic hot water, process loads, lighting, and envelope systems.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support company-wide efforts from application to final deliverables for rebate and incentive programs, including but not limited to applications, scoping visits, kick off phone calls and meetings, analytical models, final reports, etc.;
  • Assist with energy audits and energy efficiency analyses for ASHRAE Level I and II energy studies primarily for various New York State rebate and incentives programs including but not limited to NYSERDA (e.g., FlexTech), ConEdison, and National Grid;
  • Create, submit, and revise rebate program deliverables such as final reports, analytical models, etc.;
  • Analyze utility bills to identify building energy consumption and potential opportunities for reduction;
  • Perform feasibility, energy savings, and cost-benefit financial analyses for projects;
  • Create building-wide energy reduction plans by conducting energy use analyses of building and facility systems using analytical tools;
  • Provide technical support during client on-boarding calls with programming staff;
  • Work with ENPG managers, engineers, auditors, and other staff to gather information and respond to stakeholders regarding project questions, concerns, and guidelines;
  • Work with ENPG Energy Data Managers on collection of energy data, including but not limited to database entry, requests, and analysis;
  • Support with documenting rebate program summaries and periodically notifying the team with updates;
  • Help identify and recommend clients for programs as directed by senior management; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/studies, engineering, business, or economics, or other equivalent experience
  • Previous 1+ years continuous corporate experience, preferably in the sustainability or energy sector, a plus
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency concepts, clean energy, sustainability, carbon emissions, building energy use, public policy initiatives, energy industry market business trends, and rebate/incentive programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with significant expertise in Excel
  • Possess ability to perform physical tasks including but not limited to: Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time, reading and recording information on handwritten forms and computer screens
  • Authorized to work in the United States
